We're pleased to announce three new dates for our very popular Make Your Own Natural Beauty Products course on 27th - 29th May 2008, 10th - 12th June 2008, and 9th - 11th September 2008. Each course is three full days, with arrival the day before each course starts. The courses include accommodation and meals and are priced at £540.00 (+ VAT) per person. Delegates are usually astonished by the quality of the accommodation and food and describe it as a relaxing holiday as much as an opportunity to learn.

This very comprehensive course, taught by the Tortue Rouge team, will give students a thorough grounding in how to make a wide range of skin care and toiletry products using natural ingredients. There will be plenty of hands on work as well as theory and course notes to provide a valuable reference tool for the future. This course is ideal for those who are concerned about the amount of harmful chemicals that are used in commercial cosmetic products and would like to make their own. After this course you need never buy expensive commercially produced lotions and potions again!

Accommodation & Meals
You will enjoy very comfortable ensuite accommodation at L'Alabrena, our lovely new courses centre in the sunny Languedoc which has seminar and laboratory facilities on site and enjoys a glorious setting within 200 acres of organic land. All accommodation and meals are inclusive in the cost of the workshop.

Products and areas to be covered:

Cold processed Soap: We will explore in depth the vast array of ingredients that can be used to make this type of soap, enabling you to choose with knowledge and confidence the ingredients that suit your purpose and ethical viewpoint. Full safety equipment and instructions will be given, enabling students to handle dangerous ingredients safely. There will be a demonstration of cold processed soap making and then you will be given the opportunity to personalise your own soap formula and make it with supervision from our tutor.

Infusions: there is no better way to learn how the experts make a solar macerate than to get stuck in with harvesting the plants and preparing the oils. Visit our own medicinal plant farm and experience first hand the work that goes into creating top quality herbal oils and tinctures.

Balms and ointments: Learn how to turn an oil infusion into a healing salve or soothing balm. Explore variations on this theme to enable you to develop your own formulas.

Moisturisers and Hand Creams: It’s a natural progression from the healing balms to gentle moisturisers made with luxury organic oils, flower hydrosols and active ingredients which rival anything that can be found on the market today. A full discussion on the use of preservatives will be given.

Spa Salts: Using salts and sugars, clays and plant gums to make body polish and face masks. Students will make their own spa products which they can then use on face, body, hands or feet for a luxury spa treatment that normally would cost £’s at the beauty therapist. Finish your treatment with your own moisturiser developed by you for your skin type.
