Tinctures Tinctures

Tinctures are a highly effective way of extracting the therapeutic constituents of plants by immersing plant material in a mixture of alcohol and water. Alcohol is a key receptor of plant information. It is able to extract both water and fat-soluble substances and so bring across all the vital chemistry of the plant.

Most of the Tinctures (99%) you find in the shops are prepared using grain alcohol because it’s readily available and much cheaper than grape alcohol. We believe pure grape alcohol to be a much more effective receptor than grain alcohol. So we gather fresh plant material by hand at the height of its therapeutic potential and steep it in a mixture of fine organic grape alcohol and pure spring water for several weeks before pressing it to extract the finished tincture.

The result is an exceptional quality tincture of great potency - about five times the strength of commercial tinctures. You only need 3-5 drops per dose of a Tortue Rouge tincture as against 15-20 and even 40 of other grain based brands. Which is why the animal recommendations are always diluted in water before you administer them.
Our 20ml size is equivalent to 65 days supply .

As they result from full spectrum extraction, the tinctures are not standardised plant extracts. Stored correctly, they have a long shelf life and are a convenient way of taking herbal remedies with the added advantage of superior bioavailability.
